Art & culture

The programme ‘Art and Culture’ is aimed at bringing Tibet’s ancient wisdom and artistic heritage to the West and supporting the preservation and continuity of Tibetan culture amongst Tibetan communities.
Working towards creating a greater awareness of Buddhism and Tibetan culture, and conveying our patron’s message of peace, the Foundation organises varied and comprehensive programmes of Tibetan cultural events in the UK.
Amongst the Tibetan communities, the Foundation supports projects aimed at keeping the culture alive – helping institutes of performing arts, encouraging young artistes to sustain and develop their traditional culture, and organising Tibetan cultural tours and exhibitions internationally.
In the past two decades, Tibet Foundation has invited many highly recognized spiritual leaders and scholars including HH the Dalai Lama, HH Sakya Trizin and HH Penor Rinpoche. The Foundation has also organised exhibitions of Tibetan arts and artifacts, and arranged performances of Tibetan dance and music by accomplished artistes from India, Tibet, China and Mongolia. Visits and medical consultations by Tibetan doctors for the benefit of patients in the West are an ongoing feature of the Foundation’s programme.
To generate interest in Tibetan culture, the Foundation has recorded and published CDs and DVDs of Tibetan songs and music, also films that highlight the diverse aspects of our charitable work in India, Tibet and Mongolia.
As part of creating a greater awareness of Tibetan culture and promoting HH the Dalai Lama’s message of peace, the Foundation commissioned the Tibetan Peace Garden next to the Imperial War Museum in London, with a very elaborate artistic design of a Kalachakra Mandala as the centrepiece in a modern setting of western sculpture. It has now become a popular Tibetan landmark in the heart of London.
